At home in the Westerwald

Reliable. Close. As partners.

Hubert Gerharz GmbH is a family business with history and with a future. Since 1916, we have been dedicated to the extraction, processing and marketing of ceramic raw materials from the Westerwald, as well as the development of new clay blends. Today, the company exists in the fifth generation, and combines competence with new knowledge and experience. Our focus is on the ceramic industry – from tile to bricks. In addition, our raw, processed and ground ball clays are used in other areas, such as in waterproofing projects and non-ceramic processes. With a wide range of raw materials and years of experience, we develop new ideas and approaches to secure or improve product quality in cooperation with our business partners.

Supra‒regional network

Strong partnerships for a secure supply of raw materials
Our roots lie in the Westerwald region, where we have been operating our own quarries and extracting high‒quality ball clays since 1916. Over the past few decades we also have built up a countrywide network of raw material suppliers throughout Germany. This is based on long‒standing, trusted partnerships that enable us to provide a wide variety of raw materials. Sustaining this network is part of our daily work: we cultivate existing partnerships and grow together. Thanks to the combination of our own storage facilities and partner locations, we ensure short transport routes, maximum availability, and secure supplies.

Our history

From regional clay mining to modern industrial partner

Hubert Gerharz GmbH has been synonymous with clay mining in the Westerwald region since 1916. What began with the regional extraction of ceramic raw materials has continued to develop over generations. Today, we look back with pride on five generations in the history of our family-run business.
Over the decades, we have continuously expanded our expertise: with our own storage facilities, modern processing plant and laboratory. Our understanding of Ceramics has formed the basis of our daily activities for generations. For us, tradition means preserving what has been tried and tested whilst remaining open to new ideas.
We continue to develop without losing sight of our values, thereby creating a strong foundation for our customers and business partners.
