For us, responsible use of raw materials means that all the different layers in a clay deposit are exploited as completely as possible. In addition, these days we already generate a large part of the energy for our mixing and processing plants using photovoltaics. In mining, we rely on modern machinery and efficient process chains.
Together with our federal association BKRI (Federal Association of Ceramic Raw Materials and Industrial Minerals), we are actively committed to protecting endangered species. One example of this is the study “30 Years of Successful Nature Conservation – Amphibian Care in the Clay Quarries of the Westerwald,” which impressively shows how clay quarries can become valuable habitats for rare amphibians. Through targeted renaturation, the creation of spawning grounds, and close cooperation with the supervisory authorities, we are also making an important contribution to the long-term preservation of the Westerwald habitat – for a harmonious coexistence of people, nature, and industry.
